Western Albemarle & Eastern Augusta Counties, Virginia
"Map of the Most Inhabited part of Virginia,
containing the whole province of Maryland
with Part of Pensilvania, New Jersey and North Carolina”
From: The Library of Congress, American
Memory Collection.
Surveyed by Joshua Fry & Peter Jefferson, Drawn: 1751, Published: 1755
(The original map is on three pieces of linen. Total dimensions: about 30" x
48")
This very small portion of the map shows the
Beverly Manor & Borden's Tract in Augusta County and
the Rockfish Valley in Albemarle County. Although, Davis Creek, the home
of the Henry Woody
Family a little later, is not named, it is probably the small creek just south of
the "Rock" in Rock Fish River.
The Blue Ridge Mountains separate the two areas.
