• Note*: 1850; Miranda Elizabeth was very likely the mother of George; however, the only proof his father was Wyatt Woody Jr. is cxircumstantial evidence. The 1848 will of "Wyatt Woody Sr" strongly implies that a Wyatt Woody Jr. was alive at the time the will was signed.The 1850 Yancey Co. census household of Wyatt(age 76) and Mary (age 65) Woody includes George Woody, age 2, male and Hosea Woody, age 5, male, along with a female Marinda Woody (age 30) . I have assumed that these two boys were sons of Marinda. Marinda was most likely the widow of Wyatt Woody Jr, however, she could have been a daughter of Wyatt Sr.
  In 1860 Yancey Co. census, George and Posey are in household of Elizabeth, whom I assume is Marinda.
  George named one of his sons Posey Evander. This is stong evidence that George and Posey (Hosea) above were brothers. yDNA from a male descendant of George Woody would probaly help solve this puzzle.^1,7
