• Note*: The conclusion that William Wooddy/Woody of Loudoun County, VA was the son of John & Ruth Wooddy/Woody of Hanover Co., VA is entirely circumstantial. The names of four of the male children of William Wooddy of Loudoun match the names of the children of John Wooddy of Hanover: John, William, James & David. In addition, John's wife was Ruth & he had a daughter named Ruth. William, the assumed son of John & Ruth had a daughter named Ruth Jones Woody. Another son of John, James P. Woody, named his first son John Jones Woody. William Woody and the Woodys of Hanover were both in the Mail Contracting business & both John & William were associated with Quakers. In the 1810 census, William may have been enumerated in both Hanover & Loudoun. However, the census & tax info from Hanover, although inconclusive to us, can be construed to support the conclusion that William of Loudoun was the son of Micajah Woody of Hanover. That Micajah was a Quaker also supports this argument.
