• Note*: William was almost surely the grandson of James McCaffrey, but we are not completely sure of his father. William was bc. 1794 & married in Halifax Co., VA in 1822. Before moving to TN, James' Sr. sons James Jr. & Robert lived in Halifax Co., VA. We don't know Robert's wife or marriage date, but James Jr. was married in 1802 and Robert had a daughter bc. 1795. So we posit that William was the son of Robert. That is, he could have gone to Fairfax with his uncles. Since he and Mary did not seem to have any children, this situation does not seem very important.
