A Dry Creek is still shown on modern maps, just north of the border of Halifax and Person Counties. John seems to have been enumerated in the 1820 Person census, but the census data concerning his children born pre-1820 names Virginia as their birth place. So the evidence is a little conflicting and their is a very slight possibility that the deed applied to John Woody, the brother of James of Pittsylvania.⁵
