In the 1830 Albemarle Co., VA census, Samuel was enumerated with two males, one 0/5 years old & one 10/15 years old. In the 1840 Kanawha Co., VA census, Samuel was enumerated with two males, one 10/15 years old and the other 15/20 years old. In 1837, John D. Woody provided the marriage bond & age verification for Emily, the daughter of Samuel Woody. Samuel and his family were not in the 1850 Kanawha census, but younger two males fitting the 1830 & 1840 census profile were enumerated in the 1850 St. Louis, MO census. John D. stayed in Missouri, but Fleming came back to Kanawha by 1857 and joined the 7th WV Cavalry in 1861. His enlistment records show his birthplace as Albemarle Co., VA. John D. can be tracked through 1880 in Missouri and Fleming through 1910 in WV. The tombstone inscription for John D. in St. Louis Co., MO reads "born in Albemarle Co., VA".

In May, 1777 Fluvanna Co., Benjamin Woody signed a petition to not disolve the county of Fluvanna. The 1782 Fluvanna census shows 8 people in the home of Austin Woody. The personal property tax lists of Fluvanna show Augustine/Austine in 1782-1785, with two listed in 1783 and Samuel listed in 1786. Based on the assumed birth dates derived from the tax records, Benjamin & Samuel, along with Augustine/Austin Jr., are postulated to be the sons of Augustine/Austin Sr. Except for Samuel, the assumed birth dates are supported by later censuses. Samuel died before the 1810 census.

The is very strong circumstantial evidence that the younger male was Richard C. Woody. The older male was likely Samuel, bc 1792, that married Sarah Flowers. However, the evidence for Samuel is not nearly as strong as the evidence for Richard.
