• Note*: Samuel Wooddy, 1st taxed in Chesterfield in 1802 and later in Richmond was very likely the same Samuel Wooddy that was taxed in Hanover in 1801. The Samuel Sr. estate was carried as such on the tax rolls until 1800/1801, the year Samuel Jr. turned 21. The funds for his purchase of significant parcels of land in 1805 & 1806 probaly came from his portion of the estate of Samuel Woody Sr. Samuel Sr. would have been close to 60 years old when Samuel Jr. was born. This is somewhat of a stretch, but still possible. Samuel Jr. was certainly not the son of John or Micajah. In 1850, Samuel was enumerated in Richmond living next to Mann S. Valentine and his large family. Mann was born in King William c1784. The Valentines and Lees of King William intermarried and Charles H. Lee married first Lucy Ellen Wooddy. They had three children before Lucy died ca 1844. Charles then married Eliza Ann Valentine, daughter of David Valentine Jr. of King William. David Valentine Jr. served with James P. & John Wooddy in the 1812 King William Virginia Militia. Samuel was the very likely brother of Henry Talley Wooddy (d. 1812, Chesterfield) of Oglethorpe Co., GA.
